It has been another remarkable year of growth and development
for the Mid-Florida Medical Services Foundation. Foundation assets
are currently at $4 million dollars with an additional $1.5 million
in pledge expectancies forthcoming. The acquisition of these
philanthropic funds all of which are earmarked to improve healthcare
services for Winter Haven Hospital’s current and future
patients are directly related to the quality and performance
of our Foundation Board of Trustees.

This year’s Foundation Fall Gala which featured
the Coasters, Drifters, and the Platters has been widely proclaimed
as the most fun and most successful Gala ever. A great time was
had by all. The 16th Annual Fall Gala offered our organization
an opportunity to recognize and thank Mr. Guy Bostick, his sons
Mark and Bill and the whole Bostick Family for their significant
support in helping Winter Haven Hospital establish its new Bostick
Heart Center.
This year’s Gala was also the best from
a fundraising standpoint as well since it raised over $375,000.00
for the Bostick Heart Center. Credit in large part for not only
this Gala’s success, but for the last three goes directly
to Gala Chairperson, Larry Tucker. Larry has worked tirelessly
over the last few years providing the necessary leadership to
make the Gala East Polk’s most important fundraising event.
We thank him for his efforts. Accolades also go to Gala silent
auction chairperson Lynn Oakley, as well as the dozens of volunteers
and sponsors who continue to support the Gala.
Next year’s Gala already in planning will be held again
at Nora Mayo Hall on Friday, November 17th. We plan to keep the
energy and celebration going by featuring the highly popular
60’s groups The Swinging Medallions and the Tams, mark
your calendars!
Speaking of marking your calendars, plans have
commenced on the Foundation’s R.D. Saterbo/Colorado Boxed
Beef Company Golf Tournament. Last year’s tournament was
a resounding success. Held at the “Top 100” private
and very prestigious Mountain Lake Golf Club, the tournament
raised over $70,000.00. While as of this posting an exact date
has not been set, plans call for the tournament to be held again
in May. Thanks again to the Saterbo Family and all our sponsors
and players for making the R.D. Saterbo tournament East Polk’s
signature philanthropic golf tournament.
This year’s Annual Fund Campaign is off to a great start
with $27,000.00 already received. Last year’sAnnual Fund
provided $117,000.00 for the purchase of advanced technology
for the Bostick Heart Center. Since its inception the Annual
Fund has delivered over $400,000.00 in un-restricted funds to
help the patients Winter Haven Hospital cares for.
I would also like to report the Foundation continues its efforts
to provide financial support to East Polk’s future healthcare
professionals. The Foundation’s Healthcare Scholars Endowment
Fund continues to grow with the generous and contin ued investments
of Foundation friends like the Rynerson Family and with organizations
like the Winter Haven Hospital Auxiliary. With your help we
are pleased to announce that in `05 the Foundation provided
$45,000.00 in scholarships to many deserving East Polk college
students.
It is a great time to be associated with Winter Haven Hospital
