Babysitting Training
This class teaches safety, accident prevention, handling emergencies and how to be a responsible babysitter. For young people ages 11-16. Space is limited, so call early.
Dates: September 8 or November 3, 2007
Time: 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Balance Screening
If you are experiencing loss of balance or fear of falling that has begun to limit your activities, this screening may be helpful to you. The session is run by a physical therapist and will provide information on what balance is and how your brain controls this important function, a screening of your balance ability and some suggestions on improving it.
Dates: September 13, 2007, October 18, 2007 or November 15, 2007
Time: Two sessions 9:30 AM - 11:00 AM and 11:00 AM - 12:30 PM

Building Better Bones
This 2-part class provides the tools to build better bones and lessen the damaging effects of osteoporosis. Includes the disease process, nutrition, medical management and exercise. Presented by the Regency Medical Center and Outpatient Rehabilitation.
Dates: October 18 and 25, 2007
Time: 5:30 PM - 7:30 PM
Where: Regency Medical Center Classroom A, 101 Avenue O, S.E., Winter Haven
Fee: $20.00 includes reference handbook and bone healthy refreshments.
Living With Diabetes
A four-week course including an overview of diabetes, meal planning, self-blood glucose monitoring, awareness of complications, and dealing with stress.
Dates: Four Wednesdays of each month
Time: 1:00 P.M. - 3:30 P.M.

Activities are planned and organized by Chuck Warren, Coordinator of the Sage-ing Program at Winter Haven Hospital. Total Joint Replacement
For any individual considering or scheduled for total joint replacement, this class teaches expectations pre and post surgery, i.e. pain, exercise, length of stay, equipment and follow up care. Class is taught by Orthopedic nurses and Occupational and Physical therapists.
Date: First and Third Tuesday of every month
Time: 12:30 PM – 1:30 PM

55 Alive Mature Driving Course
The course is given in two separate sessions over a two-day period. Each class lasts about 4 hours. You must attend both days to be awarded a certificate of completion. Trained volunteer instructors teach the classes.
